Introduction

bake.now is a static website that publishes one AI-generated baking recipe a day. There are no accounts, no forms and no server-side code. This page explains the little that happens with information when you visit.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Nothing, on this site. There is no contact form, no comment box and no signup. Every way of reaching us goes to GitHub, where GitHub’s own privacy policy applies and your issue is public by design.
  • Bake claims: A claim is a post you make on your own social account with #bakenow. We record the name you posted under and a link back to that post. We publish nothing you have not already published yourself, and we never contact you.

Information Automatically Collected

  • Analytics: None. There is no analytics script on this site.
  • Server Logs: Our static host keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser, time). We do not process or analyse them.
  • No User Accounts: There is nothing to register for, so there are no logins to store.

How We Use Information

We use any collected information to:

  • Respond to your messages if you contact us
  • Improve the website and recipe generation
  • Understand which recipes are most popular
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the website

What We Don’t Do

  • No Email Collection: We don’t have newsletters or email signup forms
  • No User Tracking: We don’t track individual users across sessions
  • No Advertising: We don’t serve ads or use advertising trackers
  • No Data Sales: We never sell or share personal information with third parties
  • No Social Media Integration: The “post it” button is a plain link. Nothing loads from a social network unless you click it.
  • No Fonts Phoning Home: Web fonts are the one third-party request the site makes, to Google Fonts.

Third-Party Services

Our website uses:

  • OpenAI API: For generating recipes (no personal data is sent to OpenAI)
  • Web Hosting: A standard static host, which keeps its own access logs
  • Google Fonts: Serves the two typefaces the site uses
  • Hugo Static Site Generator: No data collection involved

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets no cookies at all.

It does use your browser’s local storage for three conveniences, all of which stay on your own device and are never transmitted anywhere:

  • whether you have turned on kitchen mode;
  • which ingredients you have ticked off on a recipe;
  • which outcome you picked on a recipe’s share card.

Clearing your site data removes all of it. Nothing in local storage is readable by us.

Data Security

  • The website uses HTTPS encryption
  • We don’t store sensitive personal information
  • Server access is limited and secured
  • We follow basic security best practices

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Contact us about any data concerns
  • Request deletion of any information you’ve provided
  • Know what information we have (which is minimal)

Children’s Privacy

This website is family-friendly and suitable for all ages. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
